Statement from the Chairman of Eastbridge Hospital
As you are aware, extensive and urgent repairs needed to Eastbridge Hospital, forcing a closure of the site while these works are carried out.
An infestation of Death Watch Beetle in the Upper Chapel along with the repair of one of the walls and urgent Refectory roof repairs has further delayed any foreseeable reopening. Eastbridge will not open until mid 2025.
As you can imagine, the cost of restoration and specialist historic buildings repair is extremely expensive and our costs so far have reached almost £350,000, with an additional £175,000 for the repair costs to the river wall. The cost of these considerable repairs has been a huge financial strain on our charity and we are seeking grants and donations wherever possible to help us continue with this necessary work.
